The word haegeum has two meanings in its pronunciation. One is the name of a traditional Korean instrument 'Haegeum' used in this song, and the Chinese character 'Haegeum(解禁)' means to break the ban.
  • You are one of the few BTS reactors who can dissect the MV in details and on point. I love you for that. Yoongi is one of a kind rapper, lyricist, producer, singer…. A musical genius and an extraordinary human being. Hats off to you and to Yoongi aka Suga and Agust D👏👏👏
  • Great reaction Anthony and I think you’re right, a lot of people will miss the message that Yoongi is trying to convey, that we’re all slaves to the system and that unless we stay true to ourselves and our values, that ultimately money and power will inevitably corrupt!
  • @aarianaa9777
We all want to know his skin care routine but he says doesn't have one,he's just naturally flawless
  • Haegum reference in this song is free from forbidden. Usually expectations from an idol is spotless, flawless. But here in this MV Agust D smoking is telling the world that Idols are also human and get rid of those kind of mentality.. meaning Haegum 🙏🙏💜💜
  • @abbyllamas423
Haegeum also means unlocking something that is forbidden.

There is no one like the members of Bts. They write, produce, compose and participate in all the songs of their albums. They do not wait for someone to write songs for them. They also sing live immediately when the album is released, and this is evidence of their strength. They share their ideas and communicate with army through songs, unlike other bands whose songs only talk about money, fame and love.💜bts paved the way . I'm so proud to be an army 💜 😌
  • We can always count on you to actually pay attention to the lyrics and symbolism and not just say "cool video" and call it a day. Thank you Anthony 💜 Haeugeum also means "lifting a ban" so I kind of associated it with freedom and a wake up call, like you said. Like he's saying this song is a haegeum = a call to free ourselves from the corruption and capitalism.
  • The social commentary on the D-Day album is nothing less than I expected from Agust D. I also interpreted the story of the MV the same way: the common man from Daechwita who killed the emperor has become corrupt and is taken out by this new Agust D - and he smiles when he shoots him because the new Agust D knows that he could be next. The multiple levels of the themes of power, corruption, liberation, freedom, lifting a ban are all complex and many. Agust D - the philosopher's rapper. Loved this dissection, Anthony.

As many others have commented, haegeum means a "folksy" type of instrument, but also liberation/to break the ban. The instrument is also known for conveying a lot of emotion; in many ways the opposite of the official royal war music of Daechwita which signifies authority and power. Also, I LOVE this song/MV - Yoongi in that leather coat ought to be illegal, and those wicked grins? Gangsta/mafia!Yoongi will live rent free in my brain for a long, long time. Can't wait for the third installment, which is apparently the MV for Amygdala...

Haegeum has 2 strings, like a pair of chopsticks. He uses music to slay haters, then uses music to feed himself.
  • And that is exactly how I saw it as well!!! 1. Agust D (from August D/Give it to me) through battles and suffering (hence the scar) became an Emperor (from Daechwita) 2. Agust D-2 wasn't having it and killed Agust D. 3. Agust D-2 lowkey becomes even more powerful than Agust D, his scar has healed a bit, but it still there cause, with mo money mo problems in comes Agust D-3 (from Haegum) 4. Agust D-3 has had, just wants to be free to do as he please, no shackle, no judgment, no scar; kills Agust D-2. ... and now he can enjoy his noodles 😂
  • You’ve probably already been told this Anthony but during the premiere of Haegeum, Suga told us to watch Daechwita, Haegeum and Amygdala all 8n one sitting. A MV for Amygdala is set to drop in 2 days. So there’s another short film to complete the story begun in Daechwita. 💜 Borahae
  • Heagum , other than musical instruments it means "lifting of the ban"
  • @manasvipreet
Haegum is a traditional Korean instrument and it also means 'lifting a ban' Yoongi is such a genius!!! This song and lyrics are so deep and important. The beat is fire and the MV is a MOVIE!!! All my respect to LUMPENS!! Amazing work!! Give Yoongi an Oscar!! 👌😎🔥 Have a butter-ful weekend lovely Army 💜
  • Lets noticed how good actor yoogi is amazingly delivered the 2 different character yoongi need trophy 🏆 ♥️ for this masterpiece
  • @miIIie.
Yoongi said he wrote haegeum after daechwita and the storyboard for this mv and amigdala too. (amigdala will have a mv and explain when he got that scars)
  • The Haegeum sound was prominently heard in the first few seconds of the MV (at exactly 0:37 of the MV) and 11:49 of this reaction video. And the main TEA of the cigar part is the idea of how small things like "smoking a cigarette" will make headlines to make you a prey and center for criticism. Smoking a cigarette is not a crime at all but idols seen smoking cigarette are being treated like a criminal. And this happened with V, so this is a shoutout to those making headlines and criticized V for smoking a cigarette. He also called out many more esp Youtube and corruptions going on around the industry. And now this song just became so controversial that a lot were so triggered just because AgustD is spitting facts.
  • The reason why I love and watch Anthony's reactions is because he dissects and dives deep into the mv and tries to understand the message the singer/producer is trying to convey instead of the usual, bland reactions most youtubers do. ❤️
  • That was intensely gratifying Anthony. Your analysis was impeccable and spot on. You also noticed ton of detail in both the structure of the song and the MV. Thank you!! Get ready for Amygdala and Snooze - powerful beasts of emotional torture , lol.
