We take a look under the ice and send a camera down the hole to see the fish beneath the ice. Winter is a great time to drop a camera under the ice to see the pond world below with clear underwater video. After a very cold winter we check the incredible ice thickness and drill out four holes across the length of the pond with the ice auger. The camera is tied to an ice fishing rod and sent down the hole to record the underwater life below the surface. The discarded Christmas Trees are gathered and ready to be used for this years pond structure. The trees give a place for the baitfish to hide from the predator bass in the pond. The sunken trees have worked well as a spawning shelter for the pumpkinseed sunfish which have produced great numbers during the spring spawn. The young hatchlings hide in these trees all summer.

The dace and golden shiners have increased their numbers as well thanks to the structure created by the sunken trees. The underwater camera gives us a good view of the soft pond bottom and the vegetation growth in the young pond.

  • Can you leave camera in and set up a cable channel inside and watch anytime? LOL.
  • Would love to see some under the ice footage of your lake now- where the fish are hanging and how they are doing. Hope all is well.
