I am a psychology student and this is the best explanation for CBT

I’m starting CBT therapy next week, I’ve been suffering for years and I’m recovering from a self harm addiction, it’s so hard.

I started CBT because it is the most accessible therapy in my country. I actually would prefer psychoanalysis or similiar things. I think CBT is good for people who have normal problems like a divorce or losing a job etc. But my problem is trauma and a stampede of bad circumstances (mentally ill parents, abusive household, illness, death of family members, being raised without love etc.) . CBT basically fights the symptom. Like, you are overwhelmed with cleaning and you learn to approach it step by step. That is not what I want. I want to find myself and fix my broken soul. Because if I clean or try out talking to people more etc. my dark broken mind is still there. This is only useful if your problems are temporary and not a deep part of your self. I feel like I have to go deeper than that. Iam often dissappointed when my therapist wants to talk about practical solutions instead of going through my past etc.
  • Effective is that CBT starts with a persons here-and-now thoughts (then feelings & behavior they cause.) Positive thought is powerful. "The reality of man is his thought, not his material body. The thought force and the animal force are partners. Although man is part of the animal creation, he possesses a power of thought superior to all other created beings." ~ Baha'i Faith

Cbt helped me break a horrible binge/purge cycle i was in. The recognize, acknowledge and redirect method really helped

I have been doing CBT for 4 weeks . I get panic attacks . I started taking SSRIs and since then i have been better . But today I had a panic attack and derealization symptoms. I'm going to talk to her about it . A lot has been going on and i have been sad and anxious and it manifests in anxiety and panic attacks . I hate it and i can't wait to get well . I want to be like myself again

i was diagnosed with depression 2 weeks ago and my doctor told me i’ll be getting CBT 6 weeks after i start my medication. the video was so relatable especially when he thought that everybody hates him or when he was so overwhelmed by his missy house that he couldn’t start doing it. i have a big exam coming up and i feel the same way i dont know how to start and i keep procrastinating. it feels a bit better to know that this is not me. im not this bad. im just ill.
  • By far, the best CBT video, I have listened to. This is exactly how I am seeing myself, and I know now that I am working CBT slightly.
You’ve given me hope that CBT is going to continue to help me the better I get at it
  • I feel like no matter how hard I try I just can’t be confident in myself when I’m sober. I would really love for my family and to be able to see me change for the better or at least give it my all trying.
  • I love how here people talking about CBT and it's positive affects, while even with context they sound amusing.
  • “It went on for weeks and I didn’t know what to do.” It took me 7 years to get over a girl I dated when I was 15 lol. It affected my every day life and kept me up at night. Is that like level 1000, or?

As a therapist, one is always looking for new effective ways to help those with varying degrees of addiction, this video provides a very interesting perspective. If done properly especially when combined with a workbook like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Worksheets for Substance Abuse by Portia Cruise, it becomes a lot easier to help patients track their progress, stay motivated, and avoid relapse.

This book pairs well with the mindfulness workbook "The Days to Reduce Depression" by Harper Daniels.

Sometimes your boss actually does hate you and your “friends” actually don’t want you there
  • @NE14ABJ2DAY
Just been diagnosed with ADHD, ASD & OCD. I feel like my world has spiralled further due to the thought that if I had known sooner I could have done something about the last 42 years of my complete (oblivious) life and made it better. Most will say you shouldn’t dwell on the past… you’re right but let me tell you something that it’s easy for you to say. It is not easy when like I say just finding out I have disabilities as well to add to the others it really angers me and I feel cheated! Child abuse felt like the norm growing up as I thought parents must beat their kids severely with blunt force when the child had done wrong but no that lasted 14 yrs and finding out at the age of 14 that this is not normal when I visit a friends house for the first time and found out that’s not the way I’m treated just how I saw how they was with each other… that put me into a serious addiction phase for 4 years which led to a complete breakdown. I could go on and on but I shouldn’t dwell on it they say?! Not easy to do but I am trying to be positive by getting the help I need and only then, hopefully, I’ll stop feeling like I wanna die most days. 🤞🏻
  • Thank you for your videos. I love how simple are them and informative. There's not so much unecessary animations. And it's created the way the audience can realistically relate and understand themselves.
