Sounds interesting reminds me of that movie The Secret of Roan Inish about silkies or sea people.

I look forward to your Pirates series. I've fallen under the absolute spell of Patrick O'Brian and am soon to finish the 21 novels in his Master and Commander series, which has pirates from the Barbary Coast, the Adriatic, the China Seas and other seas and coasts, but from the point of view of the British Navy, the policeman. Many have become obsessed with this series and there are supplemental books of nautical terms, geographies, and even a cookbook, "Lobscouse and Spotted Dog."

Just the title alone makes me think ‘Andreea book!’ 🧜‍♀️
