Well, you did say that the style of this book is less entertaining and more academic, so I may pass. I thought of a book that is not so well known, a horror story set mostly in Toronto, which scared me and I'm not easy to scare. I'm not gay, but it is branded as queer horror, which might be pretty limiting for reaching a wide audience, but it is full of lore and original and impressive: Red X, by David Demchuk.
