One of the dumber ideas of the 80s. See also New Coke.

  • This was the BEST fucking Hamburger McDonald's EVER had!!!!! I worked at different McDonald's from 1984-1987 and I remember when they trained us how to make the Mcdlt. The Mayo and the red juicy tomatoes blended perfectly with the hot Pattie and cheese. The lettuce was crisp too. I can STILL taste them just thinking about them!!!! PLEASE McDonald's bring these back!!!!!!!!!!

I loved McDLTs and miss them to this day.
  • The thing is now we can handle the wasteful packaging by using biodegradable plastics or foamed cardboard. I'd like to see them bring it back.
  • Speaking of McDLT,I haven't had one since 1991 when I was a teenager in HS driving off to McDonald's on lunchbreak.
  • My dad used to order this all the time and throw all the stuff on the cold side on the ground. I was a kid but I always wondered why he just didn't get a regular burger.

I started working at McDonald’s in April of 1985 and remember learning how to make these! I had one for every free meal there unless I worked breakfast! 🤤
  • I want to build a time machine just to go back and try the McDLT, and maybe go to a Phil Collins concert while i’m at it
  • @bldann
It was my absolute favorite MC D's burger ever!!
  • Notice when she "bit" into the burger she put her finger in front if her mouth so that you couldn't tell that she didn't take a bite.
  • @tempo529
I hate the fake "bite & chew" in commercial's! grrrrrrrr...
  • I can’t believe that was almost 30 years ago. It really was the best sandwich McDonalds ever had…

My mother used to get this at McDonald’s. I think that I only had it one time back in the late 80’s. Back then that I wasn’t a tomato eater.
  • People need to realize that at THAT time, many places would make the burgers and leave them on sliders that were heated with heat lamps. When you ordered, the server would just pick up the burger. Who knows how long that burger had been sitting there at the time. Therefore, the concept of cold lettuce on a burger was pretty novel. Just look at the 'Whammy Burger' scene from the movie "Falling Down" and you'll see what I mean.
  • This Burger was the shit back in the days. Can't believe they have not brought it back.
