I built fairly close to this. It’s so easy to lose dozens of hours playing this game. I’ve never really been into survival scrounge/build type of games such as this, but there’s just something about Subnautica that grabs you and doesn’t let go. I hope this studio continues to expand on this franchise for years to come. It never gets old to me.

OMG I killed a sea monkey thinking it stole from me, but when I check my inventory nothing was missing, was so confused, now I realize it was trying to give me a gift...I'm not crying I swear! :'(

I built here my first run through just because of the twisty bridges and made a scenic base but then fell in love with the area
  • @AnimusAstralis
Ahh, I remember your old Subnautica videos and I'm so glad you're making Below Zero guides!
  • @Alu_.
Dude I remember the old subnautica vids so well. They helped me through a few of my play throughs over the years. Good luck to you , and I hope your channel grows!!

I went with the lily pads. Was a great choice for both exploration and story progress. The caves directly below give access to the deep lilypads cave, while the crystal caves are accessible from either end at the purple vents or Marguerit’s seabase. All three pieces of the Mercury II lie along its edges, one of which provides the alien containment, while Omega base provides the exterior growbed (as well as other base tech), allowing for agriculture of both flora and fauna. Plus, the view of glow whales swimming amongst the giant lily pads is pretty great. My third base was in the deep twisty bridges. It is a great spot for certain resources. And it’s fun to try to squeeze a base into such a tight space (plus, my scanning room provides a beautiful map of the cave system). But I find myself constantly returning to my lily pads base because it is so conveniently located.

Also notable for Delta Island, there's a small path just to the side of the base that leads to a cave with a huge amount of Calvenite deposits (gold). Probably the best gold source in the game, and definitely early game.
  • My base is right near this area I have my base located in the perfect position on the border of the twisty bridges, kelp and the thermal vents. the purple vents area is a short swim over the thermal vent hills. I am pretty sure it is very close to the surface floating thing you mentioned. gets you lots of lead and even lithium nearby as well as nearby access to kelp, gold, silver, and table coral for all those microchips. its also very close to the first underground cavern where some spores can be found.

I do agree with this as i get most of my resources from here. The deep twisted is the defintly a good place to look for sea truck modules I found at least most of the fragments for the modules down there. But it is quite hard to get down to the deep twisted bridges just because of how tight the entrance is
  • @SupaVas
Totally agree, my first base is neatly nestled between the arc next to the platform you mentioned. It has a great drop off point for the moon pool
  • I loved twisted bridges, just by the broken cable - get 50m bellow for plenty sun light and the deeps have all basic and intermediate materials - and lots of history lore. The empty space also is good for the moonpool.

I was actually annoyed by needing diamond so early. This is a great way to get a bunch. Thanks!
  • @ZEBRACOW13
I have my first base running right next to the starting area pod. It’s for basic use and survival for now and it’s a decent spot in between the Phi labs, and the rest of the map. I’ll likely move my next base to lily pads. Depending on story of course, I haven’t seen spoilers only minor help on where to move to after vague PDA’a

Something I find funny is that in BZ, I had a habitat builder and enough blueprints to build a full base before I reached 2 hours, but in Subnautica, it took me ten times as much πŸ˜‚
  • @SaneNoMore
Starting again with full release version so I wanted to look up a good site.. turns out its exactly where I already started building lol
  • @Logan4546b
I already built very close to that area in my first playthrough when I went in blind even though I hadn't watched this video yet. So, I guess that's pretty cool

I just figured out a way of efficient storage for mid to late game using the recycler I turn all the copper into copper wire and titanium into titanium ingots it works so well as for titanium you can have 5 times the amount in a single locker and copper you can have double
  • @MyTeethAreBlue
My only base in a survival world is up on one of the lilypads, and then expands around the stem. I love it, super pretty, and I have a giant farm with a land and aquatic plant section. Only issue I've really had is with getting attacked by brute sharks and building a prawn suit, only to have it sink to the seafloor and being forced to use seatruck modules as stepping stones to my moonpool, but other then that its been a really peaceful place with a really cool cave section!

I went to the east arctic kelp forest for my first base after early acces where i build purple vents. I moved to tree spires in both playthoughs though. Love the biome, so for me i always go there eventually
