Dr. Caroline Leaf is a communication pathologist and cognitive neuroscientist with a Masters and Ph.D. in Communication Pathology and a BSc Logopaedics, specializing in cognitive and metacognitive neuropsychology. Since the early 1980s, she has researched the mind-brain connection, the nature of mental health, and the formation of memory. She was one of the first in her field to study how the brain can change (neuroplasticity) with directed mind input.

During her years in clinical practice and her work with thousands of underprivileged teachers and students in her home country of South Africa and in the USA, she developed her theory (called the Geodesic Information Processing Theory) of how we think, build memory, and learn into tools and processes that have transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), learning disabilities (ADD, ADHD), autism, dementia and mental ill-health issues like anxiety and depression. She has helped hundreds of thousands of students and adults learn how to use their minds to detox and grow their brains to succeed in every area of their lives, including school, university, and the workplace.

Dr. Leaf is also the bestselling author of Switch on Your Brain, Think Learn Succeed, Think and Eat Yourself Smart, and many more. works She teaches at academic, medical, and neuroscience conferences, churches, and to various audiences around the world. Dr. Leaf is also involved in the global ECHO movement, which trains physicians worldwide on the mind-brain-body connection, mental health, and how to avoid physician burnout.

Dr. Leaf is currently conducting clinical trials using the 5-step program she developed while in private practice to further demonstrate the effectiveness of mind-directed techniques to help relieve mental ill-health problems such as anxiety, depression, and intrusive thoughts. The primary aim of these trials is to make mental health care more affordable, applicable, and accessible worldwide, and to reduce the stigma around mental health. It was truly an honor to have her on The School of Greatness podcast!

I had a brain trauma in 2016, I retrained my brain to put a sentence together ✌️ took 11 months to teach my brain to walk without a stick, x I'm very proud of what I achieved x
  • Every family has a person who breaks the chain of poverty. I hope you will be that person!!
  • As a therapist, I appreciate this because I've had some colleagues recommend medication to someone that is homeless and depressed and I'm like "bruh, being homeless is depressing AF. Maybe we should help them find housing as a first step..." And I also love the message that it's about managing negative emotions not never having them.
  • I just have to comment that this podcast totally changed my life I come from parental abuse to a spouse abuse that took me 13 years to get out of and it just reassures me and helps my mind quiet itself knowing there’s a solution. I ordered the book the first time I listen to this podcast and I now have it in hand and I’m excited to move forward with the rest of my life being more positive towards others I am now 66 years old so it is nice to know we’re always healing ourselves.

Imagine how many people would be healed if we could create the atmosphere of a "loving supportive environment" everywhere.

This message has saved my son in law’s life. He is free from all medication, wen cold turkey and suffered terribly, but he made it. He now believes in himself, he is enough, and deserves a better life. Thank you. You saved a life🙏🏻

Language is so important. In the English language, we say 'I AM depressed'. The sentence is structured to personally identify as depression. It is who we are. But, in the Irish language, for example, translated they say 'I have a depression ON me'. It separates the person from the depression and makes it a temporary and removable thing/object. It's a good way to explore how we identify and process something.
  • Wow, I am blown away by her message and the work she has done. I used to have bad depression and battled it and went to south america to take ayahuasca and san pedro and it helped tremendously. Around that time I realized that I was not "ill" or "crazy", but that the depression and anxiety were messengers about my life. Once I met likeminded people that were having the same problems, because they didn't seem to fit in, I realized these were just symptoms for underlying problems. That view alone can help so much.

None of this is rocket science to me but for the amount of people here who are new to the message..this is why tools like EFT work. It helps to acknowledge the situation and rewrite the thoughts surrounding trauma. If you are struggling, learn EFT and you’ll have a lifelong habit to help you whenever you need it for free. I hope your world becomes lighter.
  • Love healed me. People cared about me enough to give me everything I needed to love myself again. Love yourself and know you are so loved.

The has got to be the most interesting podcast I have ever listened to. Does anyone else feel this way?
  • I was in a 6 week coma after a MV accident over 20yrs ago, Glascocoma Reading 4, the Drs said I’d be in a home for the rest of my life. Through shear will, positive spirit & Gods blessings, I learnt how to walk & talk again then finished my degree, married & emigrated. The mind is phenomenal!!

This is what I needed. My body was in full blown anxiety mode and stress for about three weeks straight. A week after it started my hands were numb and my feet were tingling. Everyone told me I was inflamed and weren’t sure why. I had brain mri back mri. They gave me antipsychotics, celebrex, gabapentin and nothing helped. I finally told my self look enough we are changing our thinking and slowly all my symptoms are going away.
  • This must be why the Bible says “Be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” ♥️
  • @hey_neighbor
Remember, no amount of dwelling can change the past. No amount of anxiety can change the future.
