For this quick video, I went over the Ironclad class in Slay the Spire to discuss deck building strategies and what relics to look out for. If there's interest, I can do similar videos on the Silent and Defect.

For me the biggest game changer was targeting the minibosses as much as possible

I easily make strength and power builds that work well up to lvl 6, I haven't played higher than that, but for the life of me I cannot make a block build. I die most of the time on the first floor when I try to use block as offence.

Thank you for this video, not a lot of beginner content out there for this game
  • I find true grit to have a soft synergy with rampage, if true grit is upgraded (when upgraded true grit allows you to chose which card you exhaust instead of exhausting a random one). With the power to chose which card you exhaust not only do you avoid exhausting rampage but you can remove unnecessary cards from you deck, allowing you to use, and upgrade, rampage more often. The sizable block that comes with the card also allows you to stall more easily while waiting to gain momentum.
  • What I like to do is get low energy cards along with draw cards. Then I’ll use relics that give energy. This combo allows me to play a bunch of cards then draw more to play even more cards. Ramping up a lot of damage and speed. While doing this I use rage to gain block while playing these cards. Then I’ll use the kunai and shurican relics.

I go flex(or any other strenght card) and limit break. I got 4 each. This alows me to multiply my attack stat up to hunderds in a few rounds. Then I use reaper to heal for masive chunks of health. I also use arnaments+ in early game. First card I upgrade that one is. I also use draw cards cards like Pommel strike to quickly get that combo going. I always struggle in battles then puf, boss goes from full to zero in one turn and I fully heal. Its fun. :D

combust with rupture is incredibly powerful, specially since both of those cards seem to be incredibly common

Don't forget about exhaust and curse/status substrategies
  • bruh, i go the indestructible ironclad route with bodyslam, also, stacking angry is really REALLY good endgame for huge damage chains

Little too slow n too much small talk otherwise very clear speaking and points tysm!

I can't seem to click with this character at all. Unlike the silent where the right cards seem to appear on most runs, I get a lot of random cards with ironclad that won't let me follow a particular build.
  • Yeah see I can't get a strat for ironclad. The silent is easy, you can spec into poison or shivs and support your deck with exhaust, defence and draw cards... I tried just getting my strength up and beating the enemies asap without worrying about block but sometimes it's not viable.

I swear the ironclad is the worst character ever
