  • Kick ass!!!! Tony's best riff out of a million and born again is my favorite album of all time

Bill's excellent snare work should get a mention!
  • This album is one of the best examples of how a bad mixing can destroy the music... thousand times better this way than the official release.

Crazy that the demo sounds far better than the album version.

Serious goosebumps. Wow, this is powerful and brutal! This line-up and album were both way ahead of their time. This level of heaviness became prevalent later on, but - as so often - Black Sabbath did it first. Ian Gillan has the loose cannon / verge of madness tension that Ozzy had, with also the range and technique that Dio brought to the band. The mixture is awesome.
  • Mad to think that this album was recorded at The Manor where Mike Oldfield recorded Tubular Bells (and therefore the theme for the Exorcist) back in the 70s

I can't believe how much clearer this sounds than the final release. Tony mentioned a few years back that he had found the master recording for this album and that he was considering mixing and/producing it again from that recording. I'd love to hear this album again, only this time the way they all intended it to sound. Other than Ozzy, this is my favorite Black Sabbath lineup. Too bad it only lasted for one album and that Ian didn't think himself right for the part, because he absolutely was. Tony thought they were getting a permanent member of the band when he joined and I think he was quite confused when Ian announced that he was leaving.

I've been listening to Born Again since '83, some good songs on there. Would've been a great album if it sounded like this. I'll need to check out the rest of these "unmixed demos".

Wow, what a blast. A criminally underrated record.
  • I've heard that Tony wanted to remix the album tracks, for the Deluxe Edition, but nobody knows where the multi tracks are. The best they could do was to remaster the stereo master. The Deluxe Edition ended up including a live disc from the Reading Festival... it's pretty good. But I like Worcester, Maryland better. It would be great to hear a properly mastered version of that show.
