Sanji's goodbye to Zeff in the LA gets me emotional every time. Both actors did a spectacular job
  • @BlueFlames26
I got a good chuckle after Nami reply to Zoro about having no friends with her saying “swords don’t count”, that line was both savage and funny to me 😂
  • @tombystander
Taz skylar is my sanji. Now and always. Man CRUSHED that role
  • @DJWARREADY

Here are some Easter Eggs in these Episodes like: — With the Going Merry’s railing getting broken by cannon balls reminds me that we don’t have Johnny & Yosaku here to fix it because this is the point in the Manga / anime when they appear — Garp uses his technique called Genkotsu Meteor / Meteor Fist where he throws a cannonball at an enemy ship while it looks like Luffy just came up with his Gum-Gum Balloon technique — When entering the Baratie their outfits are from color spread: Luffy’s is from Ch.28, Usopp’s is from Volume 8 special, & Nami is wearing her outfit based on her Baratie arc & Ch.50 (minus the letters “WC”) which notice that the circles on her skirt are like a pocket — Once they enter notice the paintings on the wall references Gaimon on the Island of Rare Animals, Sabaody, a Giant King Squid, a battle at sea = maybe the Edd War, a giant wave with faces = sea monkeys from Ch.304, a Sea Beasts from Fishman Island, Foolshout Island (Koala’s birthplace), Kyuka Island, & the ceiling art is maybe the All Blue or Fishman Island — Sanji’s dish that he made is made of Elephant Bulefin Tuna which is the same dish from Sanji’s Cookbook & the fish that he buys in Lougetown from Sapi that originates from the South Blue, & if you look on the kitchen wall references species from the One Piece world like a wild boar, dinosaur, the panda shark, armored stone fish, tomahawk spiny lobster & dragon salmon (Shokugeki No Sanji) — The man arguing with Fullbody is - “Cresent Moon” Gally which was Luffy’s first opponent in the Romance Dawn one-shot manga — Sanji mentions Ithurzburger Stein a drink from Micqueot in the North Blue that Fullbody mentions when he ask for the wine from Sanji in the manga / anime, but then with the Straw Hats he mentions Umeshu a wine that Kureha drinks — Luffy ordering milk is a reference to Ch.1 when after Shanks gave him milk he was mock for being a kid — Koby just like Nami in Ep.1 mentions 77th Branch which is lead by Pudding Pudding — Notice that on the cannon ball Krieg shoots at Mihawk has his Jolly Roger, & after his defeat you can see another named member behind him named Pearl “the Invincible Shield” — The large drink that Usopp had notice it had Sea Kings painted on it — During the Ending Credits you can see that they have added the Baratie located in the Sambas Region — Young Sanji is played by Christian Conroy who also was Gus in “Sweet Tooth” which is a bit a an interesting coincidence in the anime young Sanji is voiced by Ikue Otani (Chopper’s va) — Luffy & Usopp is based on the one he wears on the color spread of Ch.107 while Zeff’s is based on the one he wore in the past — Notice next to Luffy with the Wado is some Rice Balls / onigiri which is a reference to Zoro liking them & his attack Oni Giri — The bottle that Zeff drank from comes from Whiskey Peak & is the same from Makino’s Partys Bar — Zeff mentions that the nearest doctor is on Conomi Island which is a reference to Doctor Nako — Sanji & Zeff were stranded for 85 days after when both Zeff’s pirate ship the Cooking George & the cruise ship that Sanji worked on called the Orbit, & while on the rock Sanji has some can food that says “Pigeon Arroser” which comes from the Shokugeki no Sanji Ch.3 & another that says pumpkins as a reference to Skypiea — Nami is reading “Noland the Lair” to the unconscious Zoro which if you look at a page in the book you can spot Pandaman & she was wearing the outfit that she wore in the Volume 11 cover that is until she used that to reveal her Arlong Pirates Tattoo — The man at the table that talks to Arlong is Motzel who is a well known customer / gourmand who you can see in the background of the manga & anime — Zeff’s peg leg is broken by Kroobi but in the manga it was actually Gin — As they are about to leave the Baratie you can see next to Zoro sitting down a box that says Galley-La company

Love how we learn through Koby what the marines is all about, it’s such a smart parallel. I want more of Koby, Helm and Garp in S2!
  • @gabeortiz632
I love how they kept the butterknife for Mihawk. Its pure anime nonsense, but still fun to see it in action.
  • @adamcarlson2192
15:24 FUCKING SAME MAN, People were freaking out about bringing Garp in this early but not even noticing that we got Noland also! Huge story implications that no one new could possibly comprehend.

I’ve been waiting for this one. After watching a couple times and consuming a ton of reactions, episode 5 stands as my favorite episode of OPLA by a considerable margin. The crew moments, the MUSIC, and truly every second of Mihawk screen time was excellence.

The way OpLA changed Syrup village arc was an example of how to change the source material in a good way without straying from it too much. They turned one of the more ho hum arc of East Blue into an somewhat unique horror/thriller arc. i was not fond of how they basically sidelined Usopp in his own arc but they still kept that theme of lie and truth intact. The Baratie arc for me is an example of how they managed to change an arc for the worse. So so many really impactful scenes feels lesser here. Even if you were to just look at it without comparing it to the anime and the manga, The really emotional scenes don't quite have that weight because a real life person can't be crazy emotive or show exaggerated facial feature that the anime/manga can. That is on top of just gutting and condensing the main fight of the series. I mean, instead of really chaotic fight scenes that would have given us that motive for Sanji to join, we got Zoro in bed for nearly half of an episode. Zoro's declaration feels neutered because Makenyu is a very stoic actor and his portrayal focused solely on Zoro being cool and silent instead of someone who can goof around a lot, be loud, and still be badass. Makenyu nails Zoro's looks and the cool factor but he didn't quite capture his other facets quite as well. It is also a similar issue with Mihawk. Amazing costume work but he is just this cool aloof dude for the entire thing. What really makes his acknowledgement of Zoro powerful is that he break a bit of that character and actually yells out to Zoro to come challenge him. In OPLA, his delivery never changes and it makes it feel like Zoro even after the duel barely mattered at all. Lastly, Sanji's goodbye is another scene that lacks the oomph it needed. Seeing Sanji break down, bow down to Zeff, and truly say how much he cared for him is easily one of the best part of Baratie. In OPLA, they are already sailing away and Sanji just yells out to him kinda nonchalantly. Zeff is still very crass to him and the goodbye doesn't quite feel complete to me. All of the cool scenes OPLA did add don't quite offset everything that had to be changed, cut, and removed from the original. While I will still say that this is a better way to watch East Blue than Episode of East Blue, Baratie arc really should be experienced in the anime or the manga. After thinking about it, these are probably my least favorite episodes of the series.
  • @blitzerk1
such an awesome casting, they really delivered!
  • @Kono_D._Oda
I'm being repetitive with my comments, but I can't praise the casting enough. Zeff, young Sanji, Mihawk, all nailed their roles. Kudos to the casting director and these actors.

Roger! I am a latino who see One Piece since 2012 but I am a Catholic converted 1.5 ago and now I feel Oda is also and he maybe is leading the series there .. amazing! But think about the Bible with Kuma, about Luffy as Messiah, etc... Is all amazing
  • @HollowKonpaku
I wonder if the Noland picture book is something that Sanji brought along??
  • @ericmackenna7273
Super hype !!! So glad you're doing these and loving the reactions keep your head up Roger! Nakama!
